The Ski Renter in South Lake Tahoe is hands down the best place to gear up for the snow!

Whether you need a full set of gear or a good deal on something extra you may have forgotten (goggles, pants, or a helmet for those of you who need a helmet) — the Ski Renter has got it all AND for beyond competitive prices!

Even better, is the staff at this place! The shop’s energy is contagious with the leadership and management style by Phil! Phil and his staff are extremely knowledgeable — they will hook you up with the right gear and size at a price that you just can not beat!

So, if you’re heading to SLT to shred the gnar be sure to say what up to the Ski Renter (conveniently located on Ski Run right next to Heavenly!)

For over 10 years, we’ve been renting the cabin a few doors down from the Ski Renter. Every time we need something, this place is our go-to spot. Quality equipment, cheap prices. Can’t beat that combo! Such a convenient location too! Just up the street is Heavenly’s CA side. It’s a bit of a landmark to me. Nostalgia, you know? The people there are certainly characters, but they know their stuff. You could walk walk out of this place, ready to hit some pow (even if it’s your first time wearing skis!)

The coupon offered on top of the already low prices make me feel a bit guilty for even using/considering to use it. That’s how cheap (low price, get it right) the rentals are.

We’ll be going back for as long as they are around!

All five stars to Phil. In addition to learning about local politics and great places to eat, Phil outfitted my whole family on the cheap w/ good equipment.

I could make a pretty sizeable list about the awesome thing Phil has done on the two (count them – 2) times I’ve rented from him. (My family has been there more times than I have.)

1. Fixed a broken boot in less than five minutes while advising us which runs at Heavenly would be best later in the day.
2. Has a carnival like ability to guess height, weight and age.
3. Asked about my partner who he had met once.

The guy here is teetering on the edge of certifiably insane. BUT, he’s awesome, he’s nice, and he’s cheap! This guy has been meeting my South African friend and asking him about his Cooper S and his English origin…about 6 times now with no recall of previous conversations. He almost hollered at us from the parking lot. Really strange.

Yet, he’s a hilarious guy, who offers decent equipment at pretty darned reasonable prices (especially given he rents primarily to people at Heavenly). He even offered us coffee and a board-waxing for my friend the morning we came in at 8am. Seriously great guy with cheap prices. I’ll take it.

The people are very friendly and helpful FREE WAX if you need to rent good price and if you have a snowboard or skis this is the place to go.
